Tatreez 4 Gaza Part II
After our first Tatreez 4 Gaza initiative raised over $2000 for Samar Al Khdour’s family, we designed a very special mini-collection to help three other families survive the Gaza genocide.
These are the people that will be supported with this initiative:
Reem’s family
Reem (30) and her two children (ages one and four) have been forced onto the street in Rafah, after their family home was completely destroyed. Her husband was kidnapped by the occupation for four months and is a non-functional level of traumatized.
For more than 18 months, this family has had no shelter, and has been openly exposed to the dangers and atrocities unfolding around them, including severe starvation, skin diseases and injuries from bomb debris. Tatreez 4 Gaza Part II aims to help them survive through this terrorizing time.
In addition, to make this money go as far as it can, Reem usually tries to buy as much food as possible to make large batches, and also to also feed the displaced people around them. You are helping many people eat.
Shahed
Shahed, Reem’s sister, is living in a tent with eight people in Gaza, under the constant threat of bombardment. She was forcibly displaced with her family after the apartment they were living in was bombed and completely destroyed.
Here is a word from her:
“I am Shahed, 18 years old. A year ago, before October 7th, I was studying in high school and couldn’t complete my studies because of the war. We left our home several times and were displaced in a cloth tent in this cold winter. I don’t have warm clothes to protect me from the cold. I’ve lost my home, my school, and every place I love. I left my clothes, books, pens, memories, and dreams at home. Now I have nothing here but beautiful and painful memories. I want your support to start studying again and obtain books, pens, and notebooks so that I can complete my studies and achieve my dream of becoming a lawyer to defend justice and the homeland.”
She urgently needs a winter jacket and some warmer clothes and money to buy food and basic necessities for herself and her family, all of which is extremely expensive because of the siege and blockade on humanitarian aid.
She is also trying to continue her studies through a program put in place by the ministry of education, so she can finish her last year of school and get her high school diploma. Education is a crucial way for her to stay focused on a goal and to keep hope and preserve her mental health through the terrorizing situation she is going through.
Ahmad’s family
Ahmed (24), his two younger brothers (16 and 20), and his parents (52 and 62) are currently displaced for the seventh time in Nuseirat camp, an unsafe place, after their last displacement from Rafah when their house in the north was destroyed on October 10, 2023.
When Ahmed and his family evacuated south to Rafah, the so-called “safe zone”, his brother (27) was illegally kidnapped and tortured - he was eventually released, but is traumatized and needs daily medication due to contracted diseases/ injuries.
Ahmed is also responsible for his married sister, who is in the north. She is alone with her two children after her husband was kidnapped, and his fate remains unknown until today.
Ahmed and his family are struggling to survive amidst inflated prices, and currently have no source of income other than this fundraiser.
